Day 3 - Ok, Now I Am Hungry

Today's feature on my AdvoCare 24 Day Challenge is the chicken gyro...

Two weeks ago, my daughter Molly had a really bad stomach virus.  One week ago, my son Daniel had a similar virus. My son Cal, has experienced no symptoms.  He doesn't really wash his hands all that often, so we think he has built up an immunity to most viruses. But anyway, this week, I have to admit that I have not been feeling fantastic.  I didn't have exactly what they had, but I definitely have not been myself.  So much so, that for the last few days, I haven't felt all that hungry.  Not being hungry has worked to my advantage, because I haven't felt all that challenged.  So, the good news...not hungry.  Bad news...I have felt like crap.  Worse news...my hunger will return and I will be really, really hungry.  And...that happened today.

I actually decided to go to the gym and do a short work out to see if that would help.  You know, move around, get the blood flowing, kick up a little sweat.  Well, it certainly worked.  I felt so much better.  And then almost instantly, I was really, really hungry.  So, I did what you are not supposed to do when you are hungry and I headed to the grocery store.

You know when you are really, really hungry and you start to crave something very specific? I knew exactly what I wanted to make for dinner.  In high school, I worked at a restaurant in Des Moines called Ted's Coney Island.  They make the most amazing gyros and Greek salads!  Today, for some reason I had Ted and the crew in my head and of course, those delicious gyros.  So, I bought everything at Byerly's (pitas, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, Tzatziki sauce and chicken) and we made some very, very delicious chicken gyros.  Grilled chicken on a whole wheat pita, drizzled with Tzatziki sauce and topped with diced tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce.  They were fresh and healthy and delicious and I stayed well within the rules of the challenge.

A big shout out to my friends back in Des Moines at Ted' Coney Island!  Thanks for the inspiration!

I am back in the game and unfortunately, super hungry.  Now, the challenge truly begins.
